What Are CEREC Same-Day Dental Crowns?

“CEREC” is short for “Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic.” Basically, this just means highly advanced equipment enables us to create and provide aesthetically-appealing crowns in-office, and within 24 hours of your appointment. A CEREC crown functions much like a traditional crown in that it’s used to protect weakened teeth and can blend in seamlessly with the rest of your smile. Truly, the major difference is speed!
The Process of Getting a CEREC Same-Day Dental Crown

First, Dr. Cline will administer a local anesthetic so we can reshape your tooth comfortably. Once we’ve ensured that its edges are smooth and it’s the proper size for a crown, we’ll virtually design your new restoration. The design will be sent to our in-office milling unit, which will carve your crown out of a block of quality porcelain. When it’s finished, we’ll polish it off, make sure it’s a good fit for your tooth, and finally cement your fully-customized crown in place. All told, the entire process takes as little as two hours to complete!
Benefits of CEREC Crowns vs. Traditional Crowns

Getting a dental crown with CEREC has several unique benefits when compared to crowns made the traditional way. For example:
- It will only take one appointment to complete your treatment instead of two weeks.
- You won’t have to wear a temporary crown.
- The crown will blend in with your natural teeth and will be just as durable as a traditionally made crown.
- Overall treatment costs are comparable.
